Website Design for Local Businesses

Your first website worth having.

Purpose-built for getting found, looking credible, and capturing enquiries. CMS editing, contact forms, and local SEO basics included from day one, from £650 setup.

Sound familiar?

You're relying on a Facebook page as your main online presence.

Customers can't find your opening hours, prices, or services without calling you.

The Wix site you set up years ago looks exactly like a Wix site.

You know you need a proper website but haven't found the right starting point.

A website that earns its keep.

Most local businesses don't need a complicated website. They need one that's clear, fast, credible, and easy to find. A site where customers can quickly see what you do, where you are, how to get in touch, and whether you're worth calling.

What they actually get is a Wix template with stock photos, a contact page that goes nowhere, and a homepage that talks about passion and quality without saying anything specific. It looks like every other small business site, which means it does nothing to make a customer choose you.

A Sitemate website is designed around your business and your customers, what they're looking for, what objections they have, and what information they need before they'll get in touch. The CMS means you can update it yourself from day one, without calling a developer every time a price changes.

What's included

Custom design

Your site is designed to match your business, your colours, your services, your tone. Not a theme picked from a library with your logo dropped in. Every page layout is considered, not copied.

Self-managed CMS

Update prices, photos, opening hours, services, and page content yourself. The CMS is built for non-technical owners, no code required, no waiting on a developer for small changes.

Enquiry and contact forms

Contact forms, quote request forms, and appointment request forms wired up and tested. Submissions land in your inbox, not a spam folder. You can specify exactly what information you need from a customer before they make contact.

Local SEO basics

Page titles and meta descriptions written for what your customers actually search. Structured data so Google understands your business type and service area. Sitemap and robots.txt configured correctly from the start.

Hosting, SSL, and support

Your site is hosted, secured with SSL, monitored for uptime, and supported on an ongoing monthly plan. Launch isn't the end of the project, it's the point where we start making sure it keeps working.

Google Analytics and Search Console

Both set up so you can see where your traffic is coming from, which pages people visit, and how customers find your site in search. You own the accounts and the data.

Who this is for.

Salons, barbers, and beauty businesses

You're busy, and your clients find you through Google, recommendations, and Instagram. A clear website that shows your services and prices, with a way to request an appointment, means less time on the phone and more time working.

Trades and home service businesses

Plumbers, electricians, decorators, and builders need to show their work, explain their service area, and give customers a way to request a quote without the back-and-forth of finding you on Facebook or waiting for a voicemail reply.

Cafes, restaurants, and food businesses

Your menu, hours, and location should be easy to find on any device. Events, specials, or seasonal changes should be something you can update yourself, not something you have to email a developer for and wait three days to see live.

Therapists, coaches, and wellness practitioners

A professional online presence that explains your approach, shows your qualifications, and makes it easy for a new client to take the first step, whether that's reading about you, getting in touch, or booking a session.

Any local business ready to look the part

If your current online presence is a Facebook page, an outdated template, or nothing at all, this is where to start. A proper website won't replace word of mouth, but it will stop you losing the customers who check online before they call.

FAQ

Common questions.

Most standard projects take around four weeks from the first call to launch. That covers the design, build, content setup, CMS configuration, testing, and a handover walkthrough so you know how to update it yourself.

Yes. Every site comes with a CMS — a simple private dashboard where you can update your services, prices, photos, opening hours, and page content. No technical knowledge needed. You log in and make the change yourself.

The setup fee covers the full design and build: custom design, all pages, CMS setup, contact and enquiry forms, local SEO basics, Google Analytics and Search Console, Google Maps, and a handover session. Hosting is covered by the monthly plan.

It helps if you have photos of your work, team, or premises, but it isn't a blocker. We'll work with what you have and let you know if anything specific would make the site stronger. Copy and page structure is something we work on together based on your business.

Small content changes — updating a price, swapping a photo, changing your hours — are handled through the CMS. You do those yourself. If you need layout changes, new pages, or anything that needs developer work, that's covered under the monthly plan with no extra charge for minor updates.
